Alive 93-5 Image	1992	Promo	Mix	Bed			Thiswas the first promo I produced for Alive 93-5 after becoming the program director. I think of this promo as capturing the purpose and theme of "Alive 93-5!" Sequenced on the Peavey DPM3/SE+.
Birthday Bash	1992	Promo		Bed			Alive 93-5 celebrated an anniversary upon my arrival as Program Director, although I had helped create the stations's sound in 1988. This bed goes with a promo that described a contest for drawings and giveaways to celebrate. Unfortunately, the mixdown no longer exists. Sequenced with the DPM3/SE+ - and this sequence really taxed it! You can hear it trying to keep up at the end.
Christmas Cantata Series	1992	Promo	Mix				A fairly simple promo for the yearly Christmas cantata. The bed is lost, but the mix survives. Sequenced on the Peavey DPM3/SE+.

Farmer Jim Goes To School	1992	Promo	Mix	Bed			When Mississippi College acquired WSLI-AM and added it to WHJT-FM as a combo station, Farmer Jim Neal was part of the deal. Sequenced on the DPM3/SE+.

Jim and Kim	1992	Promo		Bed			Jim Thorn and Kimberly Salter were a popular morning team on WHJT before I arrived as Program Director. Their "grits factor" was famous in describing the day's humidity. We tried to bring them back with this promo, but their show just didn't have the same degree of success. Sequenced with the Peavey DPM3/SE+.

Atlantafest Winner	1993	Promo	Mix	Bed			We had a contest to send a winner to AtlantaFest in 1993. The Mix has an additional piano lick after the actuality, not found in the Bed. Sequenced on the Peavey DMP3/SE+.
Core Listener Club	1993	Promo	Mix	Bed			The Core Listener Club was created to award prizes to listeners without them having to call in. The Mix has additional musical effects not found on the bed. Sequenced with the Peavey DPM3/SE+.
Library Expansion	1993	Promo	Mix				Here's one of the few cases where I no longer have the music bed, which is a shame because I really think this one is cool. My DPM3/SE+ is no-more, so this is the only remaining recording.

MeMaw	1993	Promo		Bed			"Me Maw" was a bit I did based on my grandmother. I came in each morning on Jan Millican's show and posed as her grandmother. This promo was sequenced on the DPM3/SE+. I don't have the mix anymore, but I do remember it didn't stay on the air very long - it was annoying! Sequenced on the Peavey DPM3/SE+.

State Fair	1993	Promo	Mix	Bed			I got many, many comments on this promo. Everyone said it captured the fun feeling of the fair. Listen closely and you'll hear the "Man on the flying trapeze" theme in the right channel. Sequenced on the Peavey DPM3/SE+.
Sunday Morning	1993	Promo		Bed			This promo mix has been lost, but it was about our Sunday morning programming. I remember my friend Clayton saying he wasn't sure about the minor riff I introduced around the 18 second mark, but - hey - I liked it! Sequenced on the Peavey DPM3/SE+.

Journey On	1994	Promo	Mix	Bed			"Journey On" was a Saturday night show where we experimented with new Christian music. This idea came back to the station in 1996 as an everynight program called "The Edge." This recording was lifted from a 4-track recording and you can hear the phase shift from one channel to the other in the middle. Sequenced on the Peavey DPM4.

Alive 93-5 Is…	1995	Promo	Mix	Bed			This is on of the first sequences produced on the Roland SC-88 synth. I loved the sound of the 12 string patch on this synth and used it heavily. Notice the tempo picks up in the middle, and there is a shortened measure before the orch hit. Very dramatic.
John and Kathy Show (April Fools)	1995	Jingle	Mix	Bed			For April Fools, I produced two "fake" jingles for John and Kathy. They pretended they had each had a jingle created for the show. Of course, each one's jingle featured them prominently while downplaying the other. I sang all the vocals. Sequenced on the Roland SC-88.

Internet	1996	Promo	Mix	Bed			Alive 93-5 was the first Christian radio station to broadcast on the Internet, and the first radio station in the Jackson market to provide services on the net - before the web. Power Up	1996	Promo	Mix	Bed			WHJT was a 3000 Watt station since its creation in the 70's. This allowed us to cover most of the Jackson area - but just barely! We finally got an upgrade to 6000 watts, and it helped a great deal. Sequenced on the Roland SC-88.
Will Allen Afternoons (unused)	1997	Promo	Mix	Bed			Will was an afternoon drive DJ for a few months. I was ready to promote his show when he flaked out and decided he didn't want to do it. Never aired.

Spirited Music for Christian Living	1992	Liner	Mix	Bed			"Spirited Music for Christian Living" was the slogan I came up with to package Alive 93-5. I remember sitting in the station's office talking to people when the idea came to me. We kept that team for the 6 years I was program director. This liner is from the original package I created on the DPM3/SE+. It served as the base sound for the station's image.
Weatherwatch 93	1992	Donut	In/Bed	Out/Mix	Out/Bed		One of the most important pieces I produced was the WeatherWatch 93 donut. This element created almost instant credibility for the station and worked by playing the intro, reading the weather, then starting the outro as one said "for Today's Christian Music." Christian Classic	1993	Liner		Bed			This liner was played at the bottom of every third hour before we played a "Christian Classic" song. The mixdown no longer exists. Sequenced on the Peavey DPM3/SE+.
WHJT/WSLI Legal ID	1993	Liner	Mix	Bed			WHJT legal ID and WHJT/WSLI dual ID. The mix is the version that has a trailing pulse designed to pad out until the network news - unfortunatley, DJ's abused this terribly instead of tightening up on their backtiming! The bed is the simple ID without the trailer. Sequenced on the DPM 3/SE+.

Actually, I just felt I couldn't do much more with the station, and the management had also become ineffective. This, and our rivalry with WYJS, caused me to never complete this package, thought it would have been REALLY COOL! This Legal ID is loosely based on the one used at WRMX in Nashville when I was there in 1991. Sequenced on the Roland SC-88.
