In the months leading up to taking an analyst position with Gartner in 2016 I was a consistent poster to my blog site. I used it as a way to showcase my writing skills, and a place to have some kind of marketing presence as a free agent until an opportunity presented itself.
My first few interactions with Gartner as a potential analyst hire were pleasant enough, but I wasn’t sure I was ready to leave behind a more traditional executive role. But Gartner was persistent in pursuing me, and I joined. At first, I thought it would be a three year stint, to strengthen my network, then I’d strike out again.
In April of 2023 it will have been seven years since I joined Gartner and I don’t regret it. During the pandemic and other upheavals in society and in my personal life I’ve found employment with Gartner to be very fulfilling and rewarding. Although I can’t say I’ll be there for the rest of my career, I don’t see any big reason to move on right now.
In the meantime, you won’t see much blog activity here. This server is primarily used for archiving other things. The WordPress site is a nice front-door, and the information about me is a good way to present myself to those interested in me, my personal life, and my career.
